Happy New Year 2011

We decided to head down to sun country for New Years because we were a little tired of the snow and cold so we loaded up the kids in our "trusty" car and headed on down.

I should give you a little background at this point. We bought this car 9 years ago when I was pregnant with Paige. We have loved our little neon. We have driven it through several states and it has seen many spills, a minor fender bender (not my fault) and many, many, many oil changes and new tires. It is a great car, but it's getting old and I rolled over 200,000 miles a few months ago. So we have been waiting for it to die. In October I discovered that the heater didn't work. It would blow air, but it was cold. We replaced the thermostat and flushed the system. Still no heater. But I just bundle up and I figured I could live with it. In October I went to St. George with just the kids for Halloween and we broke down on the way home. Spilling oil all over the place. We got that fixed. Next our drive to my parents house for Thanksgiving was miserable. I think we all had frost bite by the time we got there. So it was time to focus on fixing the heater again. We ended up replacing the heater core. Then a few days later the hoses into the heater broke. Fixed it again. I was assured that my car would be perfect after that.

So here we are Friday morning on our merry little way to finally see my sister's twins. The roads from Santaquin to Fillmore were awful, it took us 3 hours to get that far. Then the sky cleared up, the roads dried up and all was calm and beautiful and peaceful. The calm before the storm I guess. All of a sudden my car starts making the most horrible noise you can imagine. Luckily we were almost to the south Beaver exit and we were able to pull of the freeway and pull into a gas station. Jared got out of the car to see what was wrong. He got his tool kit out of the car and got to work. Then he told me to start the car up, bam!!!! Yeah it didn't work. So he called his dad and we sat in the car for 4 hours. We did get out for about 30 minutes to eat lunch and stretch our legs.

When my inlaws got to us, they had brought Grandpa's truck and their car on the car hauler. They unloaded their car and put our car up on the car hauler. Then we were safely back on the road to St. George. I just need to insert a little note here to say that I love my inlaws. They are amazing people who would do anything for their children. I am so lucky to have them.

Finally around 3:30 we made it to St. George and it was so worth the wait. I have missed my sisters so badly and it was wonderful to see them again. Plus all their cute kids. My little niece Trinity who is Paige's best friend. We call them Vanilla and Chocolate. We also got to see Hannah and Bryce and their so cute baby Ava. And finally I got to see the twins. They are as sweet as they can be.
I gave Tabi a hair cut when we got there 18 1/2 inches off. She looks adorable. What a great mommy she is. I loved watching my baby sister with her babies.
Paige holding Kollin and MaKady with Kleyton. Paige was a little scared to hold Kleyton because he is still on oxygen. It didn't bother MaKady at all. She is going to be such a big help to Tabi this summer.

Paige & Kollin
Lucas loves babies. He would cry if we took the babies away from him.

As always when I get together with my sisters we have tons of yummy food to eat. We snacked on cheese and crackers the whole time.
Mary and her redbull. I love this girl. She is amazing.
Sassy girls. They are big trouble when they are together.
This is how Kole and Jared spent most of their weekend. Just chillin watching T.V. On Saturday there was a "Back to the Future" marathon and it kept playing the 3 movies over and over, but I swear it was on all day long and these two hardly moved. It was hilarious.
Isn't this the most precious thing ever. This is me holding them on my lap while Tabi was getting their bath ready. I spend most of the weekend just holding these two. I love them.
For New Years Eve dinner Tabi made the most amazing turkey. She stuffed it full of apples, so the turkey had a little bit of a sweet taste to it and it was so moist. Yum!! Mary made a great salad and I did nothing. HaHa. I just held the babies.
I cannot stay up late but after dinner on New Years Eve we got Lucas put to bed then we all sat around and played Catch Phrase and watched movies and the babies woke up around 9 pm. They were so wide awake. Paige fell asleep on the couch around 10:30. Then right at midnight we woke her up so we could tell her Happy New Year and we all blew our noise makers and went to bed.
Kleyton taking his bath. Oh he loved it. Tabi said he usually screams when he has to have a bath but he just loved it this time. (Maybe it's because his favorite Aunt was there. :)
Oh my little Ava. She's getting so big. She scoots around on her stomach and does this little army crawl. She is adorable.

We had a rough start to our weekend, but the ending was worth it. I love my new little nephews. I just wanted to hold them the whole time. I honestly could have brought them home with me. They would fit in perfectly at our house. But......
Happy New Year!!!!!
