I admit that I am not an animal person. It's not that I don't like seeing animals in their natural environment, it's just that I don't usually like them in my environment :) I hate the smell, the mess, the time, upkeep, etc. Not to mention that Paige and I are allergic to cats, and most dogs, and other animals with fur. But Jared and I both agree that the kids needed something so they can learn responsibility for something other than themselves.
We agreed on fish (for now) to see what they can handle. It's up to them to feed the fish and they even are mostly responsible to clean the tank (although I do help with that).
We got three little glo-fish. Lucas' fish is the blue one which he named Milo, Paige's fish is the pink one, named Samantha, and MaKady's fish is the orange one, named Zippy. They sit in a little tank on the counter in the kitchen and we like them so far.
