R

"R" is for Rosenbruch Wildlife Museum

Last Saturday my parents were here for a visit and we decided to continue on with our A-Zion now that the holidays are over.  So we went to this fun museum.

This museum is full of all sorts of "dead" animals but there are so many and they are just beautiful to look at. The founder of the museum was basically a guide and he would take people on all these amazing hunts and he himself would hunt.  This is his collection.

It's a little bit of a controversy at our house, I'm okay with killing animals for sport (insert the I'm from Utah joke here) but MaKady is an animal lover and she really had a hard time.  She just doesn't understand why anyone would kill an animal unless it was for food, even then she had a hard time.  (She is going to be a Veterinarian).  There is one display that I thought was particularly disturbing, it's an entire family of skunk.  From the momma down to all the tiny babies.  ?  Seriously ?  Not sure about that one, but like I said, fascinating to look at.

They do have a great kids room that we spent a lot of time in.  And right next to that an entire room filled with insects.  Creepy, but so cool.

It was really great overall and I think even MaKady thought it was cool once she could get past the fact that someone actually hunted and killed all these animals.  There are some beautiful displays.  If you get a chance to see it, I hope you enjoy it.

Christmas 2011

Eagerly awaiting Christmas....

Christmas was fabulous this year.  Jared's rotation home happened to be during the week before Christmas.  We feel blessed by his new job and even more blessed that he was able to be home for Christmas (his crew happens to be the only crew that got to be home for Christmas).  My sister Mary and her daughter Trinity were also able to spend Christmas with us.  Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!!

Nativity

I'm not sure if it was the move, or the fact that it doesn't snow here, or the fact that Jared is gone most of the time or what, but this year I had a hard time feeling the Spirit of Christmas.  It's not the first year that this has happened, but usually by about the week before Christmas I start to feel it,  not this year.  Sad :(  I tried and tried, we did all of our normal Christmas things and it just wasn't happening.

On Christmas Adam (that's what we call the night before Christmas Eve) we went out to Tuacahn to see the live Nativity.  It was beautiful, very well done, and it did the trick!!  I guess I just needed to remember the true meaning of Christmas.  I am so thankful for all of the blessings we have received this year and for all of the challenges that we have overcome.  Mostly I am thankful for my family and for the gospel.  I surely would be lost without them.

AntiGravity

When Jared got home from his rotation this trip he promised Paige he would take her someplace fun for her birthday, so we ended up taking all the kids, plus Trinity to Antigravity.  Wall to Wall trampolines and inflatable bouncers.  They had a blast.

There was another little girl having her birthday party there and they had a "Cinderella" look alike there.  She was awesome with the kids, she even got up on the trampoline and jumped with all of them, playing games, and gave each of the girls her autograph.  To fun..

Birthday Girl

Paige turned 9 on December 19th.  It's all going by way too quickly.  I can't believe how great this kid is, feisty, spunky, wonderful.  Love her!!

Candy Trains

It's been a couple of years since we have made candy trains, but we use to do it every year for the girls classes at school.  Paige decided that she wanted to make them again this year so we had a great time putting them all together.  It's something I always did as a child and I hope it's something my kids will do when they have kids.  Fun Christmas tradition.

Birthday Party

Last Friday we had a little birthday party for Paige.  We invited our family and friends over for pizza and cake.  Then Paige had a little sleepover with Trinity and Madison.  It was simple but fun.

I am so grateful for my sisters who came to the party.  I wasn't feeling well and Tabi helped Paige put her barbie camper together and Mary took care of cleaning up.  Nothing is better than family.

Christmas Dance

Paige had her Christmas dance recital last week.  She has been having a lot of fun in her new dance class.  It is so much fun to watch her perform.  (When you watch the video Paige is in the front row on the left side with a ponytail, 2nd one in on the left)

Family Pictures

My amazing and talented friend Tessa took our family pictures recently.  She is so great we just love her.  She has taken our pictures many times now and I am eternally grateful, as always I think she did a great job.
