Birthday Wish

For his birthday Lucas wanted to go to the farm (meaning Levan, he absolutely loves it there).  His birthday weekend happened to land on a weekend that Jared was home so on Friday we loaded up the truck and headed north.

Saturday we spent the day visiting friends and family that we haven't seen in a while.  All day Lucas kept asking to ride the tractor.  We finally took him over to were it was parked but it was being used for (what else) farming at the time and it was super muddy.  So we talked him out of it for one more day.

Sunday morning Grandma Marilyn and Grandpa Jerry had a brilliant idea to take Lucas to were the giant loader was and give him a ride on that.  Can I just say that it was not what I was expecting.  When you see farm equipment and machines on the side of the road they were nothing compared to this monster.  I mean this truly is a Giant Machine!!  Lucas was completely overwhelmed.  The hardest part was getting him in and out of the thing.  Jared's dad climbed to the top, while Jared packed Lucas up the ladder and handed him to Grandpa Jerry. They said when he got in the cab and sat on Jerry's lap he was just shaking uncontrollably because he was so nervous, but he never said a word, he just sat there and took everything in.

It might not look that big from the picture, but if you look at just the wheel and realize that Lucas can stand straight up in that thing.
Here we are doing the great hand off as we referred to it.  Notice Lucas' face.  He was a little scared still.

Afterward he kept pretty quiet, but when I asked him how it was he said "I loved that".  What a cutie.  I hope Grandpa Jerry knows how much it meant to Lucas to have him take him on that giant loader for his birthday.  I know it's something he will never forget.

Just for fun Paige and Jared took rides also.  MaKady and I stayed on the ground.

This is all of us standing in the bucket of the loader.  Maybe this will give you a little better prospective on how huge that thing really is.
